In order for a marriage to be totally legal, certain point have to be met inside the service. A Civil Ceremony can be absolutely religious, totally non-religious or a tiny bit of each and can take place almost anywhere the family & neighborhood wish (except some religious buildings and churches) at house, in a hotel, at a castle, at sea, in the woods, in the family garden…. any location which is specific to the particular person or persons for whom the ceremony is for.

The Registrar General’s Workplace of Scotland explains that all ceremonies (regardless of format) should consist of a declaration of the parties, in the presence of each and every other, a celebrant/registrar and two witnesses, that they accept every single other as husband and wife, just before the individual conducting the ceremony declares the couple to be husband and wife.
